With the rigors of ATA’s training program and tournament traveling, the Advantage Tennis Academy’s independent study programs offer players the flexibility needed to achieve success both academically and athletically.

Advantage Tennis Academy’s accredited academic program provides an environment that allows motivated student-athletes to excel in the classroom while aspiring to reach their goals on the court. ATA has partnered with the Irvine Unified School District and Laurel Springs Distance Learning Program to offer our students the best academic curriculum focused on preparing students for college. The Irvine Unified School District is rated second highest in the U.S.

ATA’s academic director, Chris Wintrode, and his teaching staff, maintain a high standard of excellence in the classroom by monitoring student’s curriculum and progress as well as communicating with parents and coaching staff. With 2 ½ hours in the morning and 1 ½ hours in the evening, our students have an excellent balance between academics and athletics. ATA’s standard for high academic achievement is coupled with building character, confidence, and leadership both on and off the court.

WHY ATA WORKS

Dear Parents & Players,

Thank you for your interest in Advantage Tennis Academy. We are excited to be coaching elite junior players. In only eight years of operating, we have had the pleasure of developing many ATP and WTA players as well as hundreds of national and international champions.

It is Advantage’s mission to help each individual player maximize their growth and experience at the Academy. We pride ourselves on the information and attention we give to all of our players. With 10 full-time coaches and a staff of 20, we are there for our players on the court, in the classroom and with all their needs.

At Advantage Tennis Academy players can balance their academics and their tennis training. With morning classroom, players are excited to train at 11:00am because they haven’t been sitting in school all day. With these extra day time hours our players can train like professionals both on the court, in the tennis training classroom and with their fitness. In the evening we have 1½ hours of study hall and some free time to relax and recover from the day as well as prepare mentally for tomorrow’s school and tennis. Because we offer an Independent Study Program our students move much more quickly through their subject work than regular students. This more rapid pace allows for productive schooling and better study habits as students learn to be more self-motivated. Also, our students only juggle two courses per five week period to increase their focus on the subject matter.

Our Independent Study Program allows our students to travel to more tournaments without worrying about missing school and being penalized. When they come back from trips they have a day or two off from tennis training. They study during the tennis training hours and they catch up in school very quickly. Players are able to stay on top of their school work, rest properly and have less school-related stress to make their lives flow better.

With the Independent Study Program our kids can stay on top of their studies and make the SAT/ACT testing more of a focal point in their academic training. With flexible scheduling our students are able to treat the SAT/ACT exam like a class. They can take a five week school session and drop down to one class to spend the time needed on the test preparation. Because GPA and ACT/SAT test scores are both instrumental in college acceptance, our players can do very well in both of these areas because of the structure of our schooling program.

Our academic program help student/athletes excel in the classroom and our tennis training help players improve rapidly. All of our instructors are high-performance coaches so our students receive the right information at the right time. With small group training, classroom sessions on technique and strategy and video analysis, our players quickly increase their tennis IQ’s, improve their stroke production and implement winning strategies built on their own playing foundations.

With our winning combination of balanced academics and tennis, we are able to give our players an environment where they can excel at both. Whether the goal is the professional tour or college tennis, Advantage is the best choice. For the last four years 100% of our seniors have received college scholarships. Those seniors are now freshman at BYU, Princeton, UNC, Cal Poly, Montana, UCI, Cal Berkeley, Texas and Tennessee.

Thanks for considering ATA for your tennis home.

Sincerely,
Jimmy, Mahmoud and Mitch
